Happy New Year

I hope 2008 brings all the best to all of you. Thank you for everything you’ve done to help keep Camp Arrowhead around for the girls of the Columbia River Council.

I’ve updated the How You Can Help page; please take a look.

The next Task Force meeting is Saturday, January 5 at 9:00 a.m. at the council office, 9620 SW Barbur Blvd. These meetings are open to anyone who is interested.

The next Fundraising Committee meeting is Monday, January 7 at 6:00 p.m. at the council office. Anyone who is interested in helping with fundraising is invited and encouraged to attend; we really need help.

Thanks again!

Letter Writing Support

From one of our lovely and talented fundraising co-chairs:

OK, everyone. Several of you have requested some support in writing personal donation letters, especially to non-Girl Scout members and businesses. I have reserved room at the council office Wednesday, December 12 from 5:30-7:30 for those who would like to get together and write letters. I am asking people arrive no later than 6:15, so that we can get really get some work done. Please email gsarrowhead@yahoo.com to let me know if you will be attending or not.

For those of you who have already written letters, or who have experience asking for donations from businesses, please feel free to come and help with suggestions. Also, please forward this email to any other people and/or groups who might want to be involved
in this. We are looking for at least 50 people minimum to get involved with this letter writing campaign — the more people the better. If Wednesday does not work for you, I can potentially spend a couple of hours on Saturday after the task force meeting, but someone will need to donate their home unless you want to drive out to Milwaukie.

Feel free to email me through the task force email, gsarrowhead@yahoo.com, if you have any questions.

Thanks, everyone!

Phone-a-thon Thank You!

Thank you to everyone who helped with the Family Giving Phone-a-thon Thursday night.  According to Shannon:

Over 50 volunteers helped make calls
We called about half of the entire list of Girl Scout families (probably 5000-6000 households?)
We raised over $6500 in pledges and credit card donations
Plus, we have many more envelopes going out with no donation amount specified — hopefully many of those will come back in!

We don’t have statistics yet on how much is for Arrowhead vs. Opportunity Fund or general donations — but either way, this money will help a lot of girls enjoy Girl Scouting.  Again, thank you to everyone for your support!

If you haven’t made a donation for the Family Giving campaign yet, please try to do so before the end of the year (although donations are accepted year-round as well).  If you are a member of Girl Scouts, you should be receiving a letter and donation envelope soon, if you haven’t already.  You can designate all or part of your donation to Camp Arrowhead.

If you don’t have a donation envelope, you can request one by emailing gsarrowhead@yahoo.com, or just mail your donation to Girl Scouts – Columbia River Council at 9620 SW Barbur Blvd, Portland, OR  97219

If you’re here looking for more information, check out the meeting minutes in the sidebar. The newest post is the Task Force meeting minutes from the December 1st meeting.

If you have any questions or concerns, you can reach the task force at gsarrowhead@yahoo.com.

New on the Camp Arrowhead Blog

Meeting Minutes for the December 1 Task Force meeting will be posted by the end of this week. Since the task force meeting minutes generally summarize what the committees are doing, I probably won’t be posting most of the minutes for the individual committees. You can read all of the available minutes by clicking the links in the sidebar.

I have updated the How You Can Help page with some specific tasks we need volunteers for. If you are willing and able to volunteer, please send an email to gsarrowhead@yahoo.com, and we will forward your information to the appropriate person.

The Family Giving Phone-a-thon is this Thursday. If you haven’t made your Family Giving donation yet, please remember to indicate a donation for Arrowhead. If you’re an Oregon resident, your state kicker check should be coming soon — that might be a good source for a donation!

If you have any other questions or concerns, please email gsarrowhead@yahoo.com — this will now be our central Camp Arrowhead email address.

Thanks for your support!
